Our friendly staff are here to help Canada's economic development professionals in any way we can.
Economic Development is a complex, multi-dimensional process. There are a number of definitions of economic development, but no one definition encompasses all of the various aspects of the profession. Basically, there is no single policy, program, strategy or template for achieving economic success in a community or region because each has different strengths and weaknesses and will therefore have various challenges.
EDAC’s Ec.D. Designation (Certified Economic Developer) is Canada’s Professional Designation of choice amongst industry, employers and the Profession. Members who have earned the Ec.D. Designation demonstrate the ability of applying their skills to economic development tasks in the private or public sector, relevant knowledge pertaining to all levels of Government, noting that the emphasis is not so much on training a person in the job which he or she already holds, but rather on providing the ability to cope with a diversity of situations in Canada.
